On October 3 2025, Thai Airways quietly broke the news on its Facebook page about a new cabin tier: Premium Economy Plus. Rather than a full press blitz, the reveal seemed more low-key, prompting close watchers of the airline to dig deeper into what this product might (or might not) be.
What Is Premium Economy Plus?
Although full details are still limited, the early coverage gives us a few glimpses:
The new “Plus” variant of their premium economy appears to lean more toward business class in hardware (i.e. lie-flat seats) than towards conventional premium economy.
The product seems tied to a small fleet of A330-300s that Thai recently acquired (formerly from Virgin Atlantic) and retained the existing interiors. On these aircrafts, Thai had business class in a herringbone layout, premium economy in a 2-3-2 layout, but now markets the business seats as “Premium Economy Plus.”
Currently, the rollout is planned on routes from Bangkok to Chennai, Dhaka, Hyderabad, Jakarta, and Kathmandu, starting October 26, 2025.
This Facebook-led reveal is intriguing: Thai Airways introducing a seemingly hybrid cabin class via social media rather than the usual PR channels.
