End of an Era: Singapore Airlines and Alaska Airlines to Cut Ties This October

Singapore Airlines (SQ) and Alaska Airlines (AS) have had a partnership for up to 8 years and are now ending their long term partnership this October. Come October 1st, these two carriers will be ending their relationship and changing the benefits and advantages of travelers booking one with the other.

Travelers will now no longer be able to use Alaska’s Atmos Rewards for Singapore Airline flights and the same goes for the other way around, any Krisworld members will also lose the ability to gain mileage points if flying with Alaska. This means that there will no longer be a benefit to flyers booking and/or traveling with these two airlines through one trip. Members however can still earn these points through some limitations:

  • Tickets that are booked between September 1st through to December 31st, 2025 will still be able to earn points
  • From all travels from January 26th and onward, all Atmos Rewards members can still earn points made directly from alaskaair.com

As a nonalliance partnership, the two airlines were able to further expand their networks with Singapore being a part of Star Alliance and Alaska being a part of OneWorld Alliance. Singapore was able to have connections with many outside alliance carriers and their relationship with Alaska helped further their North American connectivity. But with the upcoming end of their agreement, it seems like both airlines are looking to focus more closely on their own alliances, especially with Alaska Air also ending their partnership with other airlines as well.

Future travelers looking to fly with Alaska Air and gain Asia-Pacific connectivity, you’ll be able to find more options and benefits flying with other OneWorld Alliance partners which are Japan Airlines (JL) and Cathay Pacific (CX).

Frequent flyers will still be able to book with both carriers as they continue to offer seamless connections and flights, however there are no longer the benefits of point earnings when booking flights with the two airlines.
